.Linkin Park fans could be waiting less time than they had expected for a follow up to 2010’s "A Thousand Suns". Billboard.com has revealed that the band is planning to write material for the follow up while on tour to support their current release. Vocalist, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda notes: "I like we're where at right now... Creatively I feel like the band is really energized...We are really trying to get focused on getting in the studio as often as possible...It's definitely on our minds that we want to be trying to write as much as we can."
Linkin Park is set to begin the second leg of their U.S tour on January 20th. Support for the first leg comes from Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Pendulum, while The Prodigy will be joining the nu-metal giants from February 15th.
In spite of the band’s busy touring schedule, Shinoda is confident that the band will still be able to deliver on a new record:
"We're always writing... I think we benefit from the fact that the music recording and writing technology has gotten so compact and so easy to carry around in your laptop... I expect on this next run they'll be knocking on my hotel door looking to collaborate on some ideas. It's definitely a creative time for us; hopefully that means the next record is in the words."
There’s no word yet on whether or not the new Linkin Park record will reflect similar themes to the last one. "A Thousand Suns" was a concept album that dealt with the threat of nuclear warfare.
